Francie Riedmann Weis Serves on Nebraska Supreme Court

Francie Riedmann (seated on the right) was recently appointed to the Nebraska Supreme Court to hear the case involving the approval process for the Keystone XL pipeline going through Nebraska. She is taking the place of Judge John Wright who recused himself from the hearing. You can read about the case in this article from the Lincoln Journal Star.

Francie was appointed to the Nebraska Court of Appeals by Gov. Heineman in 2012. Several of the current judges on the state Supreme Court also served on the Court of Appeals before their appointment to the state Supreme Court. Perhaps this is a sign of things to come for her.

Emily Panowicz Marries Corey McKinney

Emily Panowicz, the daughter of Russ and Anne Panowicz, and Corey McKinney were married on August 9th at a beautiful ceremony at The Pines Resort in Bass Lake, CA. Her sister Christine was the Maid of Honor. They became engaged in June of 2013 on a dense foggy night on the Santa Monica pier where he surprised her by proposing, on one knee, in front of both their families. The families had been hiding out at a nearby restaurant waiting for them to walk by for the big surprise. What better place to ask than at the pier where they had their first date.

If I have it correct they will live in the Los Angeles area. She is the project manager for advertising at a digital media start up company. Corey is pursuing a career in fire science and currently works at Tesoro Corporation which is a fuel refining company. We wish them the best.

George Riedmann Passes Away
We have lost another of our family elders with the passing of our father, uncle and grandfather George Riedmann. He was truly one of a kind. A hard working soul who cared for his family, his business and God. George passed away June 10th, 2014 in a single car accident. Fortunately no one else was involved or injured. He was allowed to pass away peacefully after being a coma for several days. We will all truly miss his company, conversation and wit. You can read the obituary as printed in the Omaha World Herald here. We know he is glad to be back with Betty. May they both rest in piece, together again.

Ruthann Goularte Receives New Kidney
After many years of waiting Ruthann Goularte received a new kidney on November 12th, 2013. In the words of her husband David she was "recovering after a 4 hour non-eventful surgery." He was told it was a very, very good kidney and is expected to have a full recovery. As a matter of fact he was surprised when he first visited after the surgery because she looked the same a she did when he brought her in. They would know more in a few days, of course, as her body adapted to the new kidney. As of this writing she is still doing well and the family greatly appreciates all the prayers said for her.
